That bought a lump to my throat,
OK kids, I've been diagnosed with cancer at the base of the tongue in my throat. Not a good thing, but every medico I've spoken to has been extremely positive and told me it is totally curable with treatment.
I'm not shopping for sympathy, but I'm not much of a talker about private stuff (much to Suzanne's dismay) so I'm writing this the keep family and friends up to date, and save you all a bunch of phone calls and emails. Maybe this will also help out someone who might go through the same thing somewhere down the track. It's always good to get the story from the horse's mouth, even if his tongue is a bit munted. đ
Doctor Mathew Taylor is a really nice guy. One of those people you meet and immediately have total confidence in. He sat us down and told us the news. The CT Scan shows a growth at the base of my tongue that he believes is probably cancer. He was very positive and said if it is cancer it is curable with a course of radiation therapy backed up with some chemotherapy. The first thing we have to do is confirm that it is cancer, with a biopsy.
Doctor Taylor talked about the treatment, side effects, and so on but I don't really remember much of that at all was more concerned about Suzanne, This really is the last thing she needs right now.
