That's the diary full for a while.
OK kids, I've been diagnosed with cancer at the base of the tongue in my throat. Not a good thing, but every medico I've spoken to has been extremely positive and told me it is totally curable with treatment.

I'm not shopping for sympathy, but I'm not much of a talker about private stuff (much to Suzanne's dismay) so I'm writing this the keep family and friends up to date, and save you all a bunch of phone calls and emails. Maybe this will also help out someone who might go through the same thing somewhere down the track. It's always good to get the story from the horse's mouth, even if his tongue is a bit munted. 😃
Don't you hate it when your Doctor is right?
Doctor Taylor told me I have squamous cell carcinoma at the base of my tongue. That's a mouthful (pun intended peeps).
He's still sure that it can be cured with radiation and chemo.
Then it was crunch time. The radiation therapy needs to be done five days a week...for six weeks. That's going to play havoc with our social life. The chemo will be once a week at the same time as the radio. If there is a public holiday one week, then we have two doses on another day. One in the morning, and another in the afternoon. He's keen to do all of this at the Alfred because he believes it's best equipped to do the job. I'm happy to go with is suggestions.
Now it's an hour and a half drive to the hospital, and we'll be there for about an hour, so that's four hours every week day. Luckily it's right next to Saint Kilda, so we can do the tourist thing in the beginning. Apparently after about week three I won't be so keen on doing that.
Now we start the preparation.
