10 March 2019.

Day off "I have a cunning plan."

OK kids, I've been diagnosed with cancer at the base of the tongue in my throat. Not a good thing, but every medico I've spoken to has been extremely positive and told me it is totally curable with treatment.

I'm not shopping for sympathy, but I'm not much of a talker about private stuff (much to Suzanne's dismay) so I'm writing this the keep family and friends up to date, and save you all a bunch of phone calls and emails. Maybe this will also help out someone who might go through the same thing somewhere down the track. It's always good to get the story from the horse's mouth, even if his tongue is a bit munted. 😃

Over the weekend I realised my throat isn't sore anymore, I can swallow comfortable again, and food isn't getting stuck in there (Yes, gross isn't it?). I don't know if it's the medication, chemo, or radio that's helping but its GOOD. The down side is that I'm sooooo tired, and that's only after a small amount of treatment. I spent most of the day Saturday asleep on the lounge. Not what I need while we are trying to sort out our house. It's been three months now and we're still in a mess.

More importantly, how am I going to stay up 'til midnight tonight to watch the first GP of the season? I need to not be so tired. Here's where my cunning plan comes in...

If I'm being bombarded with radioactivity every day for seven weeks I want to get some benefit from it, apart from killing the cancer cells of course. So I'm planning on taking one of these guys inside with me sometime:

You can see where this is going can't you?

Simon + radioactivity + spider + bite =

My spidey senses are tingling already.
