8 March 2019.
Day two is done and dusted.
OK kids, I've been diagnosed with cancer at the base of the tongue in my throat. Not a good thing, but every medico I've spoken to has been extremely positive and told me it is totally curable with treatment.
I'm not shopping for sympathy, but I'm not much of a talker about private stuff (much to Suzanne's dismay) so I'm writing this the keep family and friends up to date, and save you all a bunch of phone calls and emails. Maybe this will also help out someone who might go through the same thing somewhere down the track. It's always good to get the story from the horse's mouth, even if his tongue is a bit munted. 😃
Today was a walk in the park. It was just a quick visit for Radiotherapy take two, this time without the sedative, and happily without the arm restraints from the PET scan. I was still was nervous, but it was a hell of a lot better than the PET scan, I have now renamed The mask of terror as the mask of pretty scary.

After that we had a meeting with Jo the nurse. This was a very thorough interview covering my frame of mind (yeah, go on, laugh it up), health, finances, pretty much everything that could possible affect my treatment.
Jo then gave us a show bag full of goodies to try and stop my face falling off from the radiation treatment, and reduce the blistering in my mouth and throat - that's one of the side effects unfortunately.
Once again, hospital staff are very special people.
With the fires near where we are living, we have decided that Vader will never stay at home by himself, it's just not worth the risk. I suggested to the nurses that he was a therapy dog so we could take him into the hospital, but they weren't convinced. Today we found a nice little outdoor waiting area next to the Radiotherapy unit. As we'll be there every day, Suzanne and Vader can wait there for me. It's even big enough to throw a ball around so Vader can get a run.
A good mate Jeff is visiting us at the moment so he baby sat Vader across the road in a park while we were getting treatment. Thanks Jeff.
Once that was all done it was off the the Vic Markets for a look around. We discovered a gem. El Rincon,a little Spanish restaurant alongside the markets. We love Spanish food, but have never found a restaurant that has taken us back there, until today. The food was perfect, fresh from the markets, the staff were Spanish, and the price was excellent. 10 out of 10. This will become a regular thing.

With Monday being a Public Holiday, we have three days off. We don't plan on doing much driving. I'm keen to get a ride in sometime, but Suzanne isn't so keen..and doesn't even want me to drive. We'll see how it goes.
See you next week.
